Appointment of Me Paul John Murdoch as Grand Chief of the Cree Nation of Eeyou Istchee

It is with great pride and deep emotion that we announce the election of Me Paul John Murdoch as Grand Chief of the Cree Nation of Eeyou Istchee.

Following this historic election, Me Murdoch step down from his duties within the firm he co-founded and helped build with vision and dedication.

Since the founding of the firm, Me Murdoch has embodied the values that guide our work: passion, rigour, commitment, solidarity, and respect. His deep sensitivity to the realities of Indigenous peoples—particularly the Cree of Eeyou Istchee—his exceptional contributions to the development and protection of Eeyou Istchee, his involvement in transformative files for First Nations, and his influence both locally and internationally have profoundly shaped the DNA of our firm.

He has also been an inspiring mentor to our team members, actively supporting their professional development and fostering the rise of a new generation of lawyers deeply committed to Indigenous issues. His departure marks the end of an important chapter in the life of our firm. However, the next generation that he has carefully nurtured over the years is ready to carry the torch forward—with the same passion, rigour, and commitment to serving our clients with excellence and purpose.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Me Murdoch for his invaluable contributions, unifying leadership, and unwavering commitment to justice.

We wish him every success as he undertakes his new responsibilities as Grand Chief of the Cree Nation of Eeyou Istchee. His exemplary journey will continue to inspire our practice and our mission.
